If my wife names my new partner as co-respondent, what implications does this have for my partner?

My wife is divorcing me on the grounds of adultery - which I agree to. However she wants to name my new partner as co-respondent. What implications does this have, legally and financially, for my new partner?

Its not usual now for petitioners to name co-respondents. Your wife will be able to obtain a divorce without actually naming your partner.

However, if she insists on doing this, the only legal consequence is that your partner will be named as co-respondent in the divorce proceedings if, and only if, she admits to the adultery (which she is not obliged to do). If she admits it, she may be liable to pay some of your wife's costs of the divorce (as will you be)

Otherwise, there are no legal or financial consequences of being named as a co-respondent.
