I married in England but live abroad: do I need to return to get divorced?

I am currently living in Dubai with my husband but I want a divorce. We got married in England 23 years ago. Can I divorce him without returning to England ?

By the sounds of things you are a British citizen living abroad and therefore should have no problem satisfying the criteria for commencing divorce proceedings in the UK. The majority of divorces proceed without the need for either party to attend court so you would not have to return to attend personally. If there are financial matters that need to be resolved that require the court's intervention however then it maybe you will be required to attend court in this respect.
