Pension and shares: can I keep these outside the divorce settlement?

by Conrad Murray last modified 2007-03-30 07:40

I have a civil service pension and some shares. Can I keep these out of the divorce settlement ?

It maybe possible but it all depends on the other assets available. If there are sufficient assets for instance, you may be able to keep your pension and shares in return for your spouse retaining other assets but you must disclose all your assets when negotiating a divorce settlement and these will become part of the financial settlement.
