Wife names partner in divorce petition: can I name her partner in return?

My wife has named my new partner in the divorce petition. Can she do this ? My new partner is very upset and I want to name my wife's new partner in return. Can I do this?

It is possible to name a co-respondent in a divorce petition although is rarely advised. It is also possible to cross petition if you believe it was your wife's adultery that caused the marriage to breakdown but this would only serve to increase costs and cause delay so again is rarely advised. It can be upsetting to be named as a co-respondent and as a party to the proceedings your new partner may wish to seek her own legal advice.
